A communication framework is required to translate the needs of the consumers of IAM into action. This communication framework (also known as Program Management) details the core steps most enterprises undertake when selling and managing ongoing IAM project tasks. By using clear, non-technical business terms, this framework leaves little doubt how IAM solutions will be consumed to deliver the intended functions and business value.
The IAM Program Management framework removes any bias regarding particular technology approaches to delivering IAM functionality by providing an enterprise wide, business context in which to define both business and technical risk, cost, business impact, sponsorship and compliance alignment. It also serves as the business selection criteria for current and future budgeting, should the executive sponsorship shift within the organization.
Given critical dependencies that exist between multiple engagements and projects, project teams should work in conjunction with an IAM Program Management Office (PrMO) to ensure timely and coordinated delivery of IAM projects and applications. Through delivery of more than a hundred enterprise IAM engagements, Logic Trends has created a reusable Program Management Office (PrMO) offering and supporting communication templates.
